Education & Career Action Plans (ECAP) and AzCIS
What is an ECAP? - An ECAP (Education & Career Action Plan) reflects a student’s current plan of coursework, career aspirations, and extended learning opportunities in order to develop the student’s individual academic and career goals.
Why an ECAP? – A student’s plan helps personalize education and enables the student to maximize the opportunities available upon high school graduation. Personalized planning, using ECAPS, will help students reach their academic and career goals.
Who is involved in the ECAP Process? – Students, parents, school staff (i.e. counselors and teachers) work together to help guide the student in his/her choices for career and educational experiences.
Parental Involvement – Research indicates that students rely heavily on parents' advice when making postsecondary plans and decisions. Meaningful parental involvement is vital to the effective individualized planning. The ECAP provides a way for parents to be involved and informed in planning of their student’s education and career choices. Parent review is required.
AzCIS – Sandra Day O’Connor High School utilizes the Arizona Career Information System (AzCIS) to complete students’ ECAPS. AzCIS has quality and current information and assessment tools that can help students learn about themselves and also assist in the development of the ECAP.
